The ‘Falling Walls Lab’ is a worldwide event that takes place every year where young scientists present innovative research ideas within three minutes. There are semi-finals in over 60 cities in the world and each semi-final winner wins participation in the international ‘Falling Walls Lab’ final in Berlin. During the German Week 2019 there was one of the semi-finals in St. Petersburg where 18 young scientists introduced their research breakthroughs in front of an expert jury on a stage. Verena Molitor from the CGES team was part of the jury this year. The research ideas were very interdisciplinary and diverse and ranged from medicine, over systems engineering, life sciences to human rights protection.
