This project is designed to reveal the mechanisms of contestation of urban space by strong and weak publics in comparative perspective (on the basis of theoretical and empirical materials collected in Europe and Russia). It is especially focused on the investigation of the strategies of legitimizations that different groups employ in their claims to urban territories as well as the dynamics of conflicts over urban territories, the effectiveness of various instruments for the defence of the urban space, etc.
The project is connected with a research stay in Paris and should result in an article publication.
