Summer School in Otzenhausen

The Summer School annually organized by the Centre for German and European Studies (St. Petersburg  University - Bielefeld University) in cooperation with  Asko Europa-Stiftung and the European Academy of Otzenhausen is held from July 29 till August 8 in Otzenhausen (Germany). 

The School gathers German and Russian students in order to give the participants from Russia a deeper understanding of different aspects of Germany and the EU as well as the relations between Russia and the EU. The programme of the School includes lectures, interactive trainings, and group work as well as visits and study trips to various organisations, creative spaces, museums, political and social institutions in Germany and Russia.

This year, 12 undergraduate students of St. Petersburg  University selected through a competitive process based on CV and personal statement took part in the Summer School.

Within the first week of the School students specializing in international relations, economics, journalism, liberal arts and sciences, management and sociology made presentations on St Petersburg University, St Petersburg and current political and social events in Russia and visited European Parliament and Council of Europe in Strasbourg, where they took part in discussion on political, economic, social and cultural processes in Europe today with representatives of these organisations.

The Summer School is held from July 29 till August 8.

The next step of Russian- German exchange program - Spring School in St. Petersburg will take place in March 2020.
