On April 23, within the framework of the 15th German Week, the Centre for German and European Studies together with the DAAD Information Centre in St. Petersburg, and Freie Universität Berlin organized the roundtable ‘Dual Diploma Programs: Theory and Practic’.
After the welcoming speech by the Cultural Attaché of the German Consulate in St Petersburg Pietro Merlo and the presentation by Beate Kolberg, director of the DAAD information centre in St Petersburg, heads of different departments and professors from universities of Russia and Germany discussed various issues involved in the implementation of dual diploma programs, their advantages for graduates, methods of attracting of Russian and foreign students, and the legal procedures for adapting of such programs.
During the discussion, the Russian Director of CGES, Dean of the Faculty of Sociology of St. Petersburg State University Nikolay Skvortsov and the Scientific Manager of CGES Nikita Basov shared the successful experiences in the implementation of the international English-language MA program ‘Studies in European Societies’ (http://mases.spbu.ru/en/), run at the Faculty of Sociology of Saint-Petersburg State University from 2004 in cooperation with Bielefeld University and with the support of DAAD.
