In 2016, around 20 research papers in various scientific domains, including sociology, political science, economics and international relations, were submitted to an annual competition. Written by MA and PhD students from Russian and European institutions, the papers covered topical issues of Russian and European societies, as well as of international relations between Russia and Europe.

Over the last 20 years, a number of studies have been devoted to creative professionals, such as artists, designers, IT-specialists, and journalists. The central concept of cultural (creative) labour studies would be precariousness—fickle, unstable employment without many social guarantees. However, these studies have mainly been focused on Great Britain and West European countries. In Russia, the working environment of creative professionals still remains in the shadows.
