December 7–8, 2012
This interdisciplinary workshop in Bielefeld succeeded in bringing together more than 20 doctoral, post-doctoral and senior researchers from 13 countries, who work in a variety of scientific fields. They were selected as a result of an open call for papers.
The main highlight of the workshop was on contributions of media and music that produce and spread local, regional and/or national identity in a comparison of European and Russian experiences. The scholars addressed issues such as imaginary geographies and mythologizing narratives that are widespread through media and music and how they are embedded in national and transnational cultural dynamics. A selection of the best contributions will be published as a special issue.
