July 22–August 1, 2012
Otzenhausen, Germany
The second German-Russian Summer School was organised together with the ASKO Foundation and the European Academy Otzenhausen. The target group were Russian BA students from St. Petersburg State University and German students from the Universities of Bielefeld, Koblenz-Landau and Wuerzburg.
The goal of the summer school was to give the participants a better understanding of the European and Russian politics in an international atmosphere and the opportunity for mutually learning from each other. Aside from the lectures and seminars in the European Academy Otzenhausen, the participants visited the European Parliament and the Council of Europe in Strasburg, as well as the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, am Main. Since both the students and organising partners evaluated the second school as very successful, the third German-Russian Summer School in Otzenhausen is planned for July 2013. The cooperation between the CGES and European Academy Otzenhausen also led to the idea of a new exchange, so that the German students are scheduled to visit St. Petersburg for a study week on Russian politics and society in 2013.
