International Workshop ‘Changing Patterns of Migration – Changing Patterns of Social Inequalities? Borders and Boundaries in the Enlarged Europe

In 2012, the CGES organised two major events on the topic of migration, which were very interesting and in demand among social scientists both in Russia and Europe. The first event was an international workshop in Bielefeld, which brought together sociologists, social anthropologists, political scientists, historians and economists, who focus on the complex interconnection between patterns of migration and social inequality from a multidisciplinary perspective.

Methodological Workshop ‘From Hand-Coded Material to the Use of Computers in Analyzing Qualitative Data: The Software MAXqda – An Introduction’

Dr Denis Gruber conducted a methodological workshop in the CGES St. Petersburg, during which he introduced MAXqda, a software tool used to analyse qualitative interviews. The students were given an overview of what coding means and how collected data can be coded and used for further steps of analysis.
