A new paper ‘Networks of context: Three-layer socio-cultural mapping for a Verstehende network analysis’ by Nikita Basov and Darya Kholodova

Find online a new paper ‘Networks of context: Three-layer socio-cultural mapping for a Verstehende network analysis’ by Nikita Basov and Darya Kholodova, Centre for German and European Studies, St. Petersburg University in the forthcoming issue of ‘Social Networks’.

The paper proposes an approach to studying contextual (both material and symbolic) meanings of social ties drawing on the Verstehende sociology and relying on a mixture of in-depth ethnography and statistical network modelling. The approach is illustrated with longitudinal data on five European art groups.

The paper is associated with two CGES projects: ‘Dynamic of sociocultural network structures: Analysis of European creative collectives’ supported by  Russian Foundation for Basic Research (18-011-00796) and 'Creation of knowledge on ecological hazards in Russian and European local communities' supported by Russian Science Foundation (19-18-00394).
