The mission of the Centre for German and European Studies consists in bridging Russian, German, and European scholars in order to disseminate the highest standards and the best practices of academic work, to promote high-quality education, and to facilitate comparative interdisciplinary research.
Since the centre’s work and activities are dedicated to international cooperation and exchange, the pandemic and the manifold corresponding restrictions posed particularly complex challenges. Given the extraordinary situation, the digitalisation of our activities worked out very well: research and publication projects were continued, new projects and activities were started, others were successfully completed. It was the trustful spirit of the long-standing cooperation within the centre, between both universities, and with the DAAD that has made all these activities possible in the difficult conditions of 2020, still attracting a large number of participants both from the academic field and from the broader public.
