On February 29 the annual Methodological Workshop on Research Methodology, Conceptualisation, Design, and Presentation for PhD researchers and young scholars subtitled ‘What the hell is a research question? And why does my supervisor need it?’ moderated by Prof. Dr Tatiana Zimenkova, Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences, Germany and Dr Verena Molitor, Bielefeld University, Germany was held at the Centre for German and European Studies of SPbU.
The annual workshop is designed for PhD students in any phase of their research and MA students working on their MA theses from political sciences, social sciences, historical and cultural sciences, journalism and other social sciences and humanities.
This year, eight PhD and MA students including students of the MA program ‘Studies in European Societies’ took part in the workshop. Authors of the two best papers presented at the workshop were awarded with CGES scholarships for research stays to conduct fieldwork and scientific consultations in Europe within 2020:
— ‘The limits of law automation by machine learning algorithms’ by Anastasia Gracheva, St Petersburg University
— ‘Hymen recovery surgery in narratives of doctors in multinationals cities of Russia on the example of St. Petersburg’ by Elizaveta Vlasova, European University at St Petersburg
