Joint German-Russian seminar “Summer European academy 2016. What follows on 70 years of peace? Mutual understanding and mutual trust—basis for a joint future EU/Germany and Russia”

The German-Russian Summer School for BA students was organized in 2016 for the sixth time. 14 students from seven different faculties of St. Petersburg State University were selected to participate in the Seminar.

16 German students from different disciplines came from three partner universities in Germany: Bielefeld University, Würzburg University and the University of Koblenz-Landau. The goal of the Summer European Academy was to give the participants a better understanding of the German and EU policies and societies as well as to EU-Russia relations in an international environment and to foster mutual learning from each other. In the framework of the Seminar, such topics as the EU political system, financial crisis and stability mechanism, mass media, migration, foreign policy and international relations were discussed during the lectures and interactive workshops. In addition to excursions to the Council of Europe, the Schengen Museum, the European Stability Mechanism, study trips to Strasbourg and Luxembourg were also organized.
